Safety Brake Set systems are designed to alert the driver if the parking brake is not set and he/she leaves the driver’s seat. A time delay relay or a speed sensor, or both, may be used to eliminate the possibility of inadvertently triggering of the system. Two types of seat switches are available depending on customer specs. Both switches can be installed by the seat manufacturer. SBS, Recaro and USSC have worked together to facilitate seat switch installation at the time of manufacture.  Tri-Met in Portland, Oregon as well as many other transit companies have installed SBS designed systems on all their coaches.
